Backplane Module - NR170S

Question 1
If the GUI interface is not installed on the operating system and my motherboard/add-on card does not support Port Multiplier function, can I still use the hard disk drives in NR170S enclosure?
Answer1
If the GUI interface is not installed and your motherboard/add-on card does not support Port Multiplier function, you can use only one hard disk drive on NR170S.

Question 2
There are five hard disk drives in NR170S. Can I only use three of the hard disk drives?
Answer2
Yes, you can only use three of the hard disk drives from NR170S. If two of the drives are not installed with hard disks on NR170S, you are still able to use the rest three hard disk drives, and the three hard disk drives can also be formatted in RAID set.

Question 3
If the GUI interface is not installed on the operating system and my motherboard/add-on card supports Port Multiplier function, can I still use the hard disk drives in NR170S enclosure?
Answer3
If the GUI interface is not installed on the operating system and your motherboard or add-on card supports Port Multiplier function, you can use the five hard disk drives as five independent drives, but the five hard disk drives you use can not be formatted in any RAID set since they are served as five independent units of drive.

Question 4
I have an NR170S with five hard disk drives loaded and formatted in RAID 5 set; however, the controller on the backplane inside NR170S fails, so could the five hard disk drives be moved to another NR170S enclosure and still I can use the data on the five
Answer4
Yes, if the controller on the backplane inside NR170S fails, the five hard disk drives on it can be moved to another NR170S enclosure. All the data and functions remain the same, and the five hard disk drives that are moved to another NR170S enclosure will work properly.
